Thank you to the following members who have stepped up to the plate to run for officer or director positions.

Please Note!!!

You will receive your official ballot in the March newsletter in late February. You will be responsible for mailing that ballot in or bringing it with you to the annual meeting in March.  This format is completely different than what we have had in past.  You must be a member for 1 year to run as an officer.

Greg Hersberger, President - Running for President
I would like to run for another term as President of ITRA.  I've been a director for quite a few years and the past year served as President.  Time flies when you are having fun.  I have met so many great people and had so many wonderful experiences from being in the ITRA and on the board.  There is such a great legacy of the past officers and directors and I feel we have kept the association on the path of being one of the premier trail riding advocacy groups in the nation.  It is my pride and pleasure to serve the ITRA in the positions I’ve held.  We live near Portland, In., on a small farm with our 4 horses, 1 pony, 1 miniature horse, numerous barn cats and 3 dogs.  I ride a Quarter horse mare, Dancer, the world famous trail horse, and normally have Wimpy, the world famous trail dog, with me.  I  ride my 4-year-old Foxtrotter on the trails part of the time when I can get him away from Hilary.  My wife Diana rides a Haflinger mare and takes her mini Aussie, Pearl with her and our daughter, Hillary, usually rides with us on her palomino mare.  We have ridden at most of the places in the state that have public horse trails and camps.  Serving for the ITRA I have worked in most of the parks and forests in the state and I am one of the ITRA members that have taken the trail design, construction, and maintenance crew leader training and I organize the chainsaw crews for the ITRA. There is so much more I would like to help do so I'm asking you for another term as the President of ITRA.

Arlene Smoot – Secretary  - Running for Secretary
I would like to be considered for a second term as secretary.  I have served ITRA as director, vice president, president, treasurer and this past year as secretary.  I am a life member of Indiana Trails Riders Assn., Indiana Horse Council, member of Hoosier Back Country Horsemen; and serve on the board of B & O Rail Trail organization and as Treasurer of Red Hats and Purple Chaps.
My husband, Don, is very supportive of my volunteer work.  We live on a mini farm in Hendricks County.  We have one dog, three horses - two Peruvian Pasos and one beautiful grade gelding and lots of barn cats.

Stacy Lowe – Treasurer – Running for Treasurer

I am a current lifetime member, past president and director and current treasurer for the Indiana Trail Riders Association. I have been involved with the Indiana Trail Riders since the mid 1990s.  I am also a director for the National Road Heritage Trail and a member of the American Quarter Horse Association.  I want to see equestrians have the opportunity to ride all over the state of Indiana.  I want to see more areas open to equestrians and will work toward those goals along with the rest of the officers, directors and members.  I am running for treasurer because I want to help this organization grow in all aspects and keep our momentum.  I want our future generations to have places to enjoy and ride.

Scotty Eskridge – Director – Running for Director
Hi, I'm Scotty Eskridge.  I have been an ITRA director for the past several years.  I live in Knox and am always the one in charge of the cleanup at Tippecanoe River State Park.  I have recently retired from the Air Force and will have a lot more time to devote to ITRA.  I serve on the DNR Committee and will continue to work tirelessly for more trails and campgrounds.

Carl Lohkamp Director - Running for Director
I have been a trail rider for many years having ridden most of the  trails in Indiana and many trails in Kentucky and Tennessee.  I was involved in Outfitting/pack trips in New Mexico and have packed in several locations in the USA and in Canada.  I am an owner of five horses, three quarter horses, one paint and one mustang.  I am a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and in former times a cutter "want to be".  I am also a member of the Kentucky Colonels and several technical associations such as the National Defense Industrial Association. I formerly was a director of the Greene County Horse Council, and am now a Vice President of a local, southern Indiana chapter of an international Electronic Warfare Association.
I am a presenter of many papers and authored many papers for technical symposia representing DoD and private companies.  I am married to Trisha  Lohkamp, a trail rider, and have two grown daughters.  Both daughters are Horse Nuts.  Two granddaughters also trail ride and show their horses. One granddaughter is working with one of my young quarter horses and a trainer in the hope of competing next year in reining events.
I am retired from the Naval Surface Warfare Center, NSWC, Crane In. and I am now employed at Defense Research Associates in Bloomfield In. as a contractor supporting NSWC Crane.  My 2010 plans include much trail riding in Indiana but also trail riding in South Dakota and hopefully watching my granddaughter win in reining at several horse shows across the state and Midwest.  I plan to continue in ITRA work parties, particularly those in Greene-Sullivan SF.  I also would like ITRA to enhance more trails in Hoosier National Forest.  I support all types/levels of camping from Class A sites through primitive camp sites. I also believe ITRA must be even more active in the IDNR Indiana Outdoor Experience next year than we were this year. Working the 2009 Indiana Outdoor Experience was very rewarding.
Bloomfield Indiana has been my home for 45 years. I own and live on a 285-acre farm having a few cattle and raising a lot of hay.

Tony Ragains – Director – Running for Director

My name is Tony Ragains.  I have been a member of ITRA since the beginning and a member of the Board of Directors for many years.  I keep the ITRA merchandise trailer at my residence - under cover - and have it available when needed.  For many years I cooked the ham and beans for the Thanksgiving weekend pitch in.  I am always ready to help with anything ITRA needs.  I attend every meeting and am always willing to store anything ITRA needs stored.  I live just outside Brown County State Park with my two horses and a very special kitty.  I would like to be a director for another term.
