National Trails Day at Yellowwood
On June 6th, we celebrated National Trails Day at Yellowwood State Forest. Thanks to beautiful weather and an outstanding group of volunteers, we had a fantastic, productive workday.
The day kicked off with Chris getting the Bobcat stuck, once again. Thanks to the invaluable consultation of Brett Erwood, Russ Berna and Tip Ballinger, we got the Bobcat unstuck, parked it and off we went to do other things. In other words, Plan A failed.
We went to Plan B and made a change to the re-route due to the Bobcat getting stuck. Anyway, we were still able to stick in the old trail, reset markers and clean out the culverts. The re-route is now officially open. After a morning of intense labor, we all got together for a homemade chilidog lunch and an afternoon ride where we gloated on what we had accomplished in the morning.
We had a very good turnout and hope to have another productive workday on July 18th. We will be providing another great lunch and anyone who volunteers gets a free night of camping.
